Hello again!

I'm hoping to make this place look a little less cobwebby lately.
Bear with me please!

Thanks!

Daily Pattern - Screw

The most ambiguously weird topic ever. This also took me about 2.5 seconds seeing as it is my Darling Fiance's 23rd birthday today! Huzzah!

Daily Pattern - Easter Eggs

Oh the things I would do for a good woodgrain.
So, woodgrain easter eggs!
The best thing about these is that it makes me think of my Dad. For the last couple of years he's been mastering the art of wood turning and every once in a while, a perfect captive ring or a smooth, beautiful wooden eggs appears on the shelf in the den.

Daily Pattern - Writing Utensil

Nibs!
The classiest of all pens has got to be the fountain pen. It freaking has the word "fountain" in it.

Daily Pattern - Groupies

Groupies are things/people that I rarely think about.. But when I do think about them, I think of KISS.

Daily Pattern - Aspirin

This was such a fun pattern to make! It was quick, clean and fun.
Whenever I think of medicine of any kind, I think of my grandmother. She was a bit of a hoarder, and whenever she got and finished a prescription, she'd save the bottle "just in case"(At least, I remember something to that extent... Lots of left over pill bottles in the attic). I'm pretty sure some pretty valuable things were saved in pill bottles and stored away by my grandmother in her later years.
Either way, I sometimes think of those orange pill bottles as treasure keepers, may they be for medical salvation, or special little treasures to be locked away.

Daily Pattern - Suitcase

...or purses... or bags, really!
I did this one really quickly because I was finishing the french pastry pattern that was meant for yesterday.
I had fun with this. I really love wood grain texture and wanted to do a simple pattern.
On my recent trip to New York to attend the Surtex show and conference with Paper Bicycle, I heavily relied on my trusty messenger purse to keep my things in. I use it everyday and love it.

Daily Pattern - French Pastry

Here is the daily pattern! French Pastries are fun to make.
I chose to do two because the shapes of them are delightful in themselves as well as in their cases.

Daily Pattern - Fishing

Yep. Bobbers.
I remember being a wee tot while going up to my cabin and going through the fishing tackle boxes to find the perfect one.
Granted, for the first years I sported the "Donald Duck in an Inner Tube" which flipped upside down whenever you got a nibble. In the later years, I "grew up" and fished with the classic red and white one. Night fishing was fun because you got to use the one with a little white light on the top that would disappear once it went underwater.
This pattern only makes me want to go up north and go fishing in the calm bays of our cabin on Ten Mile Lake.

Next is Lamp!

The Tablet is a GO

YES. Through wonderfulness and help from people,
I have started my ventures with a tablet.
A very small, cheap Wacom 4 is all that I need.
I just wanted to post something, so here is Pixie's eye.
He was snoring next to me as I drew this.

There will be more, weird experimental drawings to come.
Now onto the daily pattern! Books!

Daily Pattern - Mirrors!

It's pretty simple, but it's great to keep these creative juices going, even if it's a little thing!
Yay!

Something new

Although I barely did any work for this, I made a daily pattern with Lindsay, Chris and Francesca at Paper Bicycle!
"Bones"!
More to come!

Target Bags

This was a final assignment for Pro Prac this year for Target.
We were assigned to make a tote commemorating team member's 5 year anniversary for working with the company.
It's a totally different style for me. 100% illustrator.
Super fun!

Also, I am finished completely with college. All I have to do is graduate.
Cue the hamsters.

Studio Cleanout 2011

Okay, this is weird...
I can't believe it.
I'm graduating on Saturday, May 7th and it's starting to hit me.

Yes, this is me staring up at my wall...

I cleaned out my studio, took down all of my pictures, boxed up my artwork in portfolios and put a lot of things on the free shelf.
I've sold my screens from screen printing to another extremely talented artist, gathered my belongings and already feel less creative.
More art soon to recoup!

Love,
Mary
