She was a bit of a hoarder, and whenever she got and finished a prescription, she'd save the bottle "just in case"(At least, I remember something to that extent... Lots of left over pill bottles in the attic). My idea was that Gregor as a roach was fatally pinned to few aspects in his life, like in the beginning of the story, time being of great importance to him.
