Studio Cleanout 2011

Okay, this is weird...
I can't believe it.
I'm graduating on Saturday, May 7th and it's starting to hit me.

Yes, this is me staring up at my wall...

I cleaned out my studio, took down all of my pictures, boxed up my artwork in portfolios and put a lot of things on the free shelf.
I've sold my screens from screen printing to another extremely talented artist, gathered my belongings and already feel less creative.
More art soon to recoup!

Love,
Mary

Another coat

Coats are fun to draw when you leave the people out of them.

It would appear...

That I have risen from the dead!

New work from the past semester! Finally!
Most of these haven't been fixed up in photoshop yet, so the quality isn't so awesome on some of them!

Also my senior show is up.
Pictures to follow!

Love,
Mary

Much too long!

Hello! It's been a little while, but since the last post, I've added to the website, finished a lot of work and am working on my portfolio!

Here, this is an "encore" piece to the Snow Geese and Smoke Stacks illustration:
The usual, technical pen and acrylic ink.

This is also a serial killer portrait of Ed Gein I did a little while ago. I'm doing two more as well for Lizzie Borden and Albert Fish. It's pretty dark, but it is also technical pen and acrylic ink.

ALSO, I figured out what piece got into the Brass Ring Awards!

ALL OF THEM! I mean, the four I submitted.

Yep, I was pretty excited.
Three Bronze awards and one Merit award too. Another great day!

Love,
Mary!

Website!

Hello! It's been a while! How are you?

So I finally have a website! It's not quite finished yet and pretty simple, but go take a look!

Enjoy!

$1,000 Society of Illustrators New York Scholarship!

Today has been great. I have been thinking today that am seriously so blessed this year with everything that has been going on in my life.

Today, however, I found out that I won the $1,000 scholarship from the Society of Illustrators New York Student Scholarship Competition, which is pretty amazing and wonderful.

I was really pleased to hear about that. I feel lately that once things cool down, another wonderful and amazing thing pops up! Which is unexpected, and... nice. :)

To the people who critique, collaborate, inspire, galvanize and support me through my life and my work,
Thank You.
You all know who you are :)

Love,
Mary
