More Shells!

Here are some other circular designs I whipped up yesterday. I had a lot of fun coming up with the designs on the shells themselves!

I really enjoy drawing these.

Went back to MCAD to work out again
Had a great sushi dinner with Ben and History of the World Part 1
Plus, I've been drawing:

More to come!

Final Children's Book Illustrations, and a new technique!

I got these done tonight!
Final illustrations for childrens book for a story I made up about a kitty named Midge

I used watercolor, colored pencil and brush pen and layered a LOT.

Enjoy!

I think my favorite is the one of the cats on the fence.

New Work

So I haven't had time to scan these bigger new pieces.
And photomerge is a gift from GOD.

The first is the walk for animals poster done a while back in acrylic.

The Second is an homage to Beatrix Potter done in watercolor

The watercolor might be one of my new favorite pieces.

Pet Lovers Piece FINALLY FINISHED

I will admit, I was taking my time with this one. Mostly because we had like two and a half weeks to finish it.
I'm pleased

I like the top version better. Something about the consolidation of space.
Oh well,
More to come, considering I have another illustration due for the same class!

Mary

Finished

Here is the final product of the color study below.
I love it actually, it turned out pretty well.
The assignment was a collaboration piece between the Grotesque class where we were assigned groups in the class who wrote essays about Kafka's Metamorphosis. My idea was that Gregor as a roach was fatally pinned to few aspects in his life, like in the beginning of the story, time being of great importance to him. I simplified it A LOT.

There you have it

Some new things.

This is my Walk for Animals poster that's due tomorrow.
I still have to do the text and tweak a few things, but overall I am very pleased with the way it came out.
Thanks Ben for helping me with the color :)

So there you have it ;)

MNOP

It's been a rough week.
ugh

Sunday, October 11, 2009

Ugh, I hate ruts.

So this week has been pretty crappy.
It started out with me getting a bit of a bug, and then getting better, and the ended with my family losing our beloved cat Chloe. We had her for seventeen years. I remember getting her when I was four. She will be so missed and we were really blessed to have her.
Here is some new work for you.
It's not my favorite. I kind of dislike it actually.

It's about the Manson Murders, particularly the Tate, Sebring, Folger ones.

I don't really like it.
Same with my new things.
I have an utterly horrible alphabet that I'm finishing up today. Maybe I'll like it later though.

Oh well

Love,
Mary

Update on the textbook cover

I fixed some obvious flaws on my textbook cover.
Tell me what you think!

I also have the updated pipe piece that I need to get fixed. I painted over a portrait of Einstein and put a pipe in there, haha

Two Posts in One Day, but it's totally worth it.

So I have yet another project that I just finished.
I mean, finished isn't really the word for it. I am not content with the whole things but I do like the colors. I feel like the background needs some sort of texture, but I'm not sure.
Feedback? The text needs work too. Nothing like a nice boring oval.

Alright, I'm off to bed, at a lovely 3:03 am.

In other news, I miss my Mummy. :( For she is in Poland for two loooong weeks.

Sigh,

Love

Mary

ps,
I'm realizing that I can't open most of my projects up to a bigger size if I click on them. Is that an issue for you too?
HELP!
I'M A GOOD ARTIST WHO KNOWS THAT SHE'S DOING, I SWEAR!

New things!

I have been lax about posting! BAH!

New children's book piece that I sorta like.
It's done in ballpoint pen, and colored digitally.
To be quite honest I only like the pen drawing without the color. Oh well
The poem is about dreaming about flowers.

I will post the pen drawing once I get the file

Love,
Mary

A little more progress

Updated color version of the pictures in the last post.

So far...

For Topics we're creating high school binders for a certain subject.
I guess mine is a spin-off of science, morel like biology and anatomy.
We'll see.
I have a basic idea that I think will be very elegant.
So far, I have two sketches which will be colored in photoshop
and then I plan on adding flowers into the composition, and various scientific elements, e.i. beakers, insects, chemical symbols, alchemy symbols, etc.

Here are the two base sketches I have so far.

I'll post more with each level of progress. Whee skulls!

Children's Book Illustration - Imagination

This is for Monday,
I really think it turned out well, considering I started on the first one and totally hit the wall and gave up because it was UGLY.
So I started this one brand spanking new earlier this afternoon and it was TOTALLY WORTH IT.

Let me know what you think of my watercolor skills. This is the first illustration I have ever fully used watercolor.

Mary

Swingin' London and Christmas Music

So I just got the final worked out on this Tools of the Trade project about Swingin' London,

AND
I'M LISTENING TO CHRISTMAS MUSIC.
It's actually pretty nice.
I don't usually condone listening to Christmas music before the wintertime, but I actually like it very much.

The project above will most likely be fixed a bit before tomorrow.
Now I get do to another children's book illustration involving bright colored vegetables taking a nice hot soak in a stew pot.

Pipe Lover

Okay, it is finally DONE.
I'll probably tweak it a little, but in the meantime, I am calling it completely done.
Maybe 25-30 hours. Ugh, so tired.

Topics Illustration progress.

Ok, Topics is eating up my life and here is the progress to show for it.
I had a fun time blocking in the big colors for the shadows, but it required a lot of tape, and a lot of paint. The paper is astronomically heavier than it was before.
This is just a crappy photobooth picture,
but now I am working on putting the pictures on the wall, and getting the knick-knacks on the shelves.
I hope to have it done by tonight, and maybe work on it a little bit tomorrow just so I can put the finishing touches on it before it it due on Tuesday.

Love,
Mary

School is back in session, meaning I am back to actual post things...

Hey!
Sorry for such a lag!
I literally did nothing but relax and enjoy the summer and play with my cat. I honestly was really lazy and did very little art related things.
Much like this.

Yep, pretty boring.
Anyhoo,
All my classes so far have been great!
3 illustration studios
and 2 liberal arts.
Fun!

There will be more, I promise!
As soon as I get a project done or something, I will post it here!

Love,

Mary

More (and less interesting) Paintings!

My goodness, everything's been a flutter with the school year ending.
I do miss it though. I wish I had summer classes. Plus I need a job.
But in the meantime, here are some of my paintings from Painting 1 this past semester.
But only the ones I deem good enough. Hahaha.

Yeah, those are fun.

Ugh, fine, I'll show you my crappy in class self portrait. The damn sub told me that I needed to be really dark because I was back lit, but I ended up looking like a swamp monster. So don't mind the fact that it's hardly done.

Have a great, weather wonderful week!

Mary

New Hitchcock Poster for "The Birds"

I like it! And for some reason it looks a bit light.
Weird
Remember that old post of mine with the early stages?
Here it is, finally. :D

Final Paintings

They are DONE.

SO HAPPY. We crit today so hopefully that goes well.
It was so crazy in the painting studio last night.
I'm glad I started about two weeks ago, because some people were just STARTING.

I will be rewarding myself with some delicious peach mango tea now. :)

Nightmare Book

I'VE DONE IT!
I'VE MADE MY FIRST BOOK.
With the help of the lovelies Anna and Evan, I actually got it done, yay!
It's a visual representation of this nightmare I have had since I was about three years old.
This is officially the first time I have ever actually expressed it visually.
So it's kind of like a psychological breakthrough or something. It feels good actually.
I mean, granted it's not THAT good, it's still pretty neat for me.

More stuff to come

Love,

Mary
